Lord Mayors also have 3 Domain Limit which means if a county has 2 cities, you can have them own both cities and the County and get lots of money. You won't be able to modify the feudal contract but you will recieve a flat 15% of their income. It seems there is no limit which means you can have a lot of rich vassals. In CK2, you were limited by how many you could have. If you want lots of money, have as many Lord Mayors as you can. There is no limit to how many Republic Vassals you can have. TLDR: Give your counties to a Mayor to create a Lord Mayor. Unique MAs seem like a good choice but I still haven't gotten around to using them. Buying anything else is too expensive for what it is worth and should be avoided. Calvary would be good but recieve negative modifiers while Bowmen only have positive ones. Bowmen counter Footmen and the AI usually buys Footmen, especially if its a Tribal AI. Still learning about Cultural MAsįootmen are basically Levies. You should modify feudal contracts to give more levies as Castle holdings do not make lots of Gold. TLDR: Levies are for when you are too poor to afford Men at Arms (MAs). Playing Feudal is sort of a waiting game but is worth it as you will make more passive income and have better upgrades for your counties. Making money is harder and you cannot raid. The whole point of playing Tribal is to Raid and Conquer.įeudal Realms have the chance to play Tall and will get bonuses from Technology. If you do decide to switch, do it as a small Realm under a Feudal Liege. Do not bother switching from Tribal to Feudal.
You are stuck with Tribal Technology but all that matters is your Army size. You can Raid for Gold and Prestige and Men at Arms cost only Prestige. Playing Tribal is great as everyone's Levies are the same unlike in CK2, which means you don't have to worry about tech difference. Feudal rely heavily on Gold but are slightly more stable and eventually get Primo Succession type. TLDR: Tribal is for early game dominance and raiding but you are restricted with Confederate Partition unless your culture has a special succession law, which are still lame. Just have one County and nothing will be split. Also allowing your relatives to be your vassals just increases your chances of having rebellions. It's also not worth fighting for the land back. Just give away the extra land and make vassals so that no one else inherits and splits up the Duchy/Kingdom/Empire. Trying to play with one heir is also risky. There is no point in making a ton of bastards and only picking one or even imprisoning your other heirs. Other people say to disinherit but you waste valuable Renown needed for Dynasty Perks.
